Liturgical use
The ewer-and-plate set is intended for the celebration of Baptism by infusion: the ewer holds the blessed water that the celebrant pours over the head of the person being baptised, while the plates collect the water and may also serve for the lavabo rite during Mass. Hand-chiselling gives the set a quality artisan character, valued in parishes and baptisteries with a strong liturgical tradition.
