Liturgical and devotional use
Figures of the crowd gathering at the grotto enrich the narrative of the nativity scene, giving visual form to the visit of the shepherds and the daily life of the village of Bethlehem. The woman with basket and dove adds an element of everyday life from first-century Palestine to the composition. Well suited for enhancing large parish, school and civic nativity displays throughout the Christmas season.
