Liturgical use
The processional umbrella is a symbolic vestment of ancient liturgical tradition: originally a mark of honour reserved for the pope and prelates, it is used today primarily in Eucharistic processions to accompany the Blessed Sacrament carried by the celebrant. At 100 cm in diameter and with a gilt-brass cross at the top, it is visible from a distance even in processions with large numbers of the faithful, serving as a visual focal point for the assembly. Suited to parishes celebrating Corpus Christi, their patronal feast or other solemnities with procession.
