Liturgical use
The host pyx is the indispensable instrument of the minister of Communion — priest or extraordinary minister — who brings the Eucharist to the faithful unable to attend Mass due to illness, advanced age or hospitalisation. Its compact size makes it discreet and easy to carry; the JHS decoration identifies it as a sacred object and safeguards it from improper use.
