Liturgical use
The Ambrosian monstrance is specifically designed for celebrations of the Ambrosian Rite, practised in the dioceses of Lombardy and in certain communities outside Italy. It is used during Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, hours of adoration and Corpus Christi processions. The included lunette facilitates the placement of the consecrated host in the viewing window.
