Liturgical use
The three jars correspond to the three oils blessed during the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday: the Chrism for Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Orders; the Oil of Catechumens for the journey of initiation; and the Oil of the Sick for the Sacrament of Anointing. The set is indispensable in the sacristy of every parish that administers the Sacraments of initiation and provides pastoral ministry to the sick.
