Liturgical and devotional use
Saint Gerard Majella, an eighteenth-century Redemptorist lay brother, is the patron of expectant mothers, difficult births and unborn children: his intercession is invoked in a special way in Campania and Basilicata, where his devotion is deeply rooted. A 170 cm statue is suited to Redemptorist churches, Campanian shrines dedicated to him and parishes where devotion to Saint Gerard is particularly felt by the community.
