Devotional use
Our Lady of Sorrows is venerated on Good Friday and on 15 September, the feast of the Seven Sorrows of Mary. The 170 cm statue is suited to Good Friday processions — a central event in southern Italian popular devotion — and to permanent display in churches, shrines and confraternities dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows. The expressiveness of the glass eyes and the chromatic power of the blue mantle make it a visual focal point in the nave.
