Liturgical and devotional use
Saint Roch (16 August) is the protector against epidemics and plague, invoked above all in times of illness. His 160 cm statue is suited to parish churches that have him as patron, to rural chapels and to shrines where the faithful travel in pilgrimage to seek his protection. The great height makes it visible from throughout the nave and lends it prominence in the 16 August processions of patronal feasts in both southern and northern Italy.
