Liturgical use
The cope is the processional vestment par excellence: worn by the celebrant during processions, Eucharistic Benediction, solemn Vespers and other non-Eucharistic celebrations. The Alpha and Omega symbol — "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last" (Rev 22:13) — recalls the cosmic lordship of Christ, making it appropriate for any liturgical season. The double front-and-back embroidery ensures the decoration remains visible even during processions viewed from behind.
