Liturgical and devotional use
Saint Lucy, the fourth-century martyr of Syracuse, is among the most venerated saints in the Christian tradition: patroness of the blind and of those suffering from eye conditions, she is celebrated on 13 December with solemn processions and festivities in many Italian dioceses. An 85 cm statue is well proportioned for niches, side altars and votive chapels dedicated to the saint, where the faithful gather in prayer seeking her intercession.
