Liturgical use
According to the Rite of Dedication of a Church, twelve or four crosses are fixed to the interior walls of the building at the points where the presiding Bishop anoints them with Holy Chrism. These crosses remain permanently on display as signs of the consecration of the sacred space. The 30 × 30 cm dimensions make them visible from the nave even in medium-sized and large churches, without becoming obtrusive on the side walls.
